Beer Battered Onion Rings

Side Item
When it comes to ordering burgers, fries are always a great choice. But every now and then, I like to change things up a bit and order a side of onion rings. Just follow the recipe below and you’ll see just how easy it is to make these delicious onion rings!
Ingrediets for the Batter
- 1 cup of all purpose flour
- 1/2 tablespoon of kosher salt
- 1/2 tablespoon of Lawry’s seasoned salt
- 1/2 tablespoon of garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
- 1 1/4 cup of lager beer ( I used Modelo) substitute cold water or cold sprinkling water
For the Chipotle Ranch
- 3 minced chipotle peppers
- 1/2 cup mayo
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- Buttermilk to desired consistency
- 3 cloves of minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon of chives
- 1 teaspoon parsley
- 1 tsp paprika (I used smoked)
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Cut a large onion into 1/4 inch slices (a mandolin works great)
Coat the onion rings in flour as this will help the batter adhere to them
In a large bowl, combine the flour and seasonings and whisky until thoroughly combined. Add in your preferred liquid and whisk until it has the consistency of pancake batter
Heat Oil to 350°F / Cook for 2-3 minutes flipping every 30 seconds until golden brown
Remove once the onion rings are golden brown, place on a paper plate lined with towels or a baking rack and sprinkle with Lawry’s seasoned salt and allow to cool.
I served mine with chipotle ranch along with a messy double cheeseburger.
Enjoy!
